U.S. delays China tariff hikes: Why and what to expect next?

The Office of the U.S. Trade Representative has announced it will delay tariff hikes on Chinese imports, including electric vehicles and their batteries, computer chips and medical products, which are worth some 18 billion U.S. dollars by at least two weeks, adding that it was reviewing more than 1100 comments received for the extra tariffs. What’s behind the delay? How will the plan be adjusted? And once put in place, how will the tariff hike affect China, the U.S., and the world? Guests in this edition of Dialogue are Prof. John Gong from the University of International Business and Economics; Jim Rogers, international investor; Brandon Andrews, former Hill staffer & entrepreneur; and Carl Fey, professor of strategy at BI Norwegian Business school in Oslo.
