Bloody Omaha Stalemate
General Norman “Dutch” Cota, was a gritty West-point single-star general in his fifties, who spent most of his time with his troops on the field rather than in a safe office shuffling papers. Although he had every option, and in my opinion, every right, to essentially retire and live an easy life at headquarters for the remainder of the war, Cota was imbued with a toughness that would last until his dying breath.
