Labour’s Keir Starmer has urged the government to ‘get a grip’ on the situation as 19 adults and 14 children have been stuck in the Port of Dover for over 14 hours. On Saturday morning the Port of Dover said it was ‘deeply frustrated’ as coach traffic faced ‘significant delays.’ The port, which has declared a critical incident, said the delays were ‘due to lengthy French border processes and sheer volume.’ Additional coach bookings taken by ferry operators for Easter have impacted operations, a statement on the port’s website said on Saturday morning.
