US will not accept cheap Chinese imports
The US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen has said her country will not accept Chinese imports if they would decimate certain industries, such as electric vehicles and batteries.
In an interview with Sky News’ partner CNBC, Ms Yellen says the US are trying to foster domestic industries – and has therefore pressed China to rein in excess industrial capacity that floods the markets.
CNBC correspondent Sara Eisen, who conducted the interview, told Sky’s Wilfred Frost that Ms Yellen’s message was well-received in China, but no breakthroughs have been made in discussions.
