Israel and Hezbollah have agreed to a 60-day cease-fire to end the fighting in Lebanon. People across southern Lebanon celebrated news of the deal, which came into effect at 4am local time on Wednesday morning. Under the agreement, Israeli and Hezbollah troops are to gradually withdraw from southern Lebanon, to be replaced by the Lebanese army. Hezbollah and Israel have continued to exchange rocket fire as the deadline approaches. If the truce holds, it will bring an end to over a year of violence between the two parties.
