Germany Pays Double For LNG Terminals to Get More Russian Gas | Europe Energy Crisis. Russia has greatly reduced flows of natural gas into Europe. To complicate matters further, the Nord Stream pipelines were sabotaged and rendered useless in September. Now, Europe is having to invest in something called floating LNG terminals. These floating LNG terminals help countries acquire the ability to almost instantly begin importing LNG.
