Councils At ‘Breaking Point’
Councils are set to tell the Government that they have reached capacity and can no longer accommodate additional asylum seekers, according to reports.
In another news, Suella Braverman has suggested a shake-up of international rules could be needed to tackle the migrant crisis ahead of a major speech in the United States.
The Home Secretary questioned whether conventions and legal frameworks designed more than half a century ago are still “fit for purpose”.
She warned that a failure to address the problem will undermine the “democratic legitimacy” of political institutions.
Border expert Henry Bolton tells TalkTV’s Kevin O’Sullivan: “I now am at the point where I absolutely believe that the only way of dealing with this is to build ‘purpose built’ accommodation to accommodate the migrants… until they are processed.”
