Brazil’s former president Bolsonaro stages rally ahead of possible trial
Thousands of people have turned out in Rio de Janeiro to show their support for Brazil’s former president Jair Bolsonaro. They’re calling for an amnesty for hundreds of Bolsonaro supporters who were convicted of storming the presidential palace and supreme court after his defeat in the 2022 presidential election. The former president has been charged with masterminding an attempted coup after he was voted out. Bolsonaro has denied allegations that he tried to overthrow the government and says the accusations are politically motivated.
