Australian life expectancy has risen during the COVID-19 pandemic, bucking a global trend that saw declines in longevity from similar nations.
A study conducted by the Australian National University revealed the average life span increased by roughly eight months during 2020 for both men and women, in the greatest increase in life expectancy of all countries surveyed.
Researchers said lockdowns contributed to a decline in the spread of other diseases such as influenza.
