Future Science
Earth, like many other rocky objects in the solar system, has been damaged by asteroids in the past, some of which have even influenced the evolution of life. For instance, the non-avian dinosaurs perished 66 million years ago when a six-mile-wide asteroid collided with Earth near Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula. This mass extinction was brought on by the collision.
