~From the start of 2024, it will be harder to meet the rules of origin requirements for electric vehicles, for both British and EU manufacturers, meaning tariffs will apply to exports. This risks a lot of politically sensitive jobs in the UK, so Rishi Sunak has been pushing for an extension of grace periods. Some in the EU Commission are resisting this, but there is a compromise being suggested.
